Day 2 - Rec at least three fanworks that you didn’t create.
The Truth In The Lie
Summary: Sam and Dean pretend to be gay lovers while they hunt a monster on a bus tour of Nova Scotia.
This was one of the first long stories I read and I have a thing for fake/pretend relationships that turn into a real relationship. It has a case, the boys solving it while falling in love without meaning too.
Always Gold
Summary: Non-hunting AU. As children, Sam and Dean lived in the shadow of their father's grief and his whiskey-fueled violent outbursts. Dean bore the brunt of it all in order to protect Sam. When evidence of the abuse is revealed, the boys are removed from their home and separated from each other. Sam is adopted and Dean is sent to a string of foster homes before they finally lose track of one another by distance and circumstance. Sam goes to Stanford to study law and Dean eventually joins the Marines. Sam tries to find Dean a few times, but when his military record seems to dead end with Dean marked MIA Sam assumes the worst. Eighteen years after they last saw each other, Sam gets a call that John has died and learns that Dean is alive and living in their old hometown of Lawrence. Dean, now a firefighter and a single dad, doesn't recognize Sam as the kid brother he once knew now after so many years apart. As their relationship becomes more entangled, Sam struggles with how to tell Dean the truth without losing him forever.
I enjoyed this story because it showed a different life for Sam and Dean. And how being separated formed their life while they were still destined to meet each other after years away from one another.
You Gotta Dance
Summary: Jared spends his last summer vacation before the beginning of law school with his parents at the Manners' Summer Camp. It doesn't take him long to get tangled up in a drama where someone's pregnant and someone else needs a new dance partner for the upcoming dance competition. Based on the movie "Dirty Dancing".
This is one of my all time favorite movies and having a J2 theme filled version hit all the right buttons. It was a very well written story with a twist and turns off the movie built in a wonderful universe that fit J2.
