Day 11 - In your own space, talk about your creative process(es) — anything from the initial inspiration to how you feel after something’s done. Do you struggle with motivation or is it a smooth process? Do you have any tricks up your sleeve to pull out when a fanwork isn’t cooperating? What is your level of planning to pantsing/winging it?
This is a hard one to answer. I’m still figuring it out myself. When I get an idea for a fic, I tend to write it down or open a new document on the computer. Then I just start to write and I let the characters guide me as much as I can and they allow.
I struggle with motivation and completing something. I attempt challenges but then I end up stepping away and dropping them due to assigned word count. Once I get the word count in my head I start to panic and begin to fluff the story up with information that does not need to be in the story at all or it’s not even important to the main storyline. I am well aware of the plot line I want to share but it’s all inside my head.
I’ve started to write down notes and make some sort of outline to stay focused on the main story I want to share. I’m working on just writing and getting the story completely before I edit my way through the story and then finish it. I’m hoping to my more outlines and guides for myself for my future fics to help me stay on target with my story and focus on the main storyline. Try not to put so much into the story all at once but to ease it all into the story from beginning to end.
I get very excited once I’ve finished a fic and ready to post. And that’s all that matters to me. As much as I would love comments and kudos it’s not the end game for me. I just want to write and get better over time and share stories that I enjoy writing and sharing with others.
