Well I have been in the works of editing my latest story, but its going on to the side for the moment. I have entered myself into a secret Santa for December and the word count is only 1,000 words needed. I did and had signed up for RBB this year, but with school, the pressure of 3,000 or more within a months time, its too much for me.
Though I wanted to give a sneak peek to a story I'm writing that's also on hold, but for different reasons. Its a story that I want to write with pure heart and soul.
Title: Family
Snippet:
Krystal slowly raises her head and looks at him. She smiles from ear to ear at recognizing the familiar comfort.
“Chis!” She says excitedly.
“How’s my special girl, doing?”
He watches her and hopes that with the progress they have been making together with her speech that she will express it to him.
She points to the bed, at the word and picture book, they created together.
Grabbing it and handing it to her. He waits patiently for her to tell him, what he already knows.
Krystal points to a face, looks up at Chris and says, “Scared. Loud.”
“Yes, it was loud, it’s just thunder. There’s a storm outside.”
She nods her head in understanding and snuggles in closer, grabbing at the pocket on his shirt, and squeezing. He wraps his arms around her and squeezes, tightly back, in reassurance that she is safe within his arms.
Krystal lays her head on his shoulder and tucks her head into his neck. He can feel the soft, brush of her eye lashes against his neck and her easy breathing. Chris continues to rub, small circles on her back, and kisses the top of her head as she falls asleep in his arm. The storm rages on. Loud, cracks in the air, and lightening lighting up the night sky.
He lays her down on the soft blankets, tucks the penguin under her arm, and draws up the teddy bear blanket he got for her. He kisses her forehead gently and takes a seat, back in the rocking chair;
peacefully watching her sleep.
Under his breath, he whispers, “Someday you’ll be mine and I’ll take you home with me.”
