I have plenty of open dates for others to ask my questions and learn anything they want to know!!!

So go HERE and pick a date and ask your quesiton!!!!

December 9th - My fifth question was asked by [livejournal.com profile] marchia43

If money was no object, which ONE place would you like to visit, and why?

If money was no object, I would want to go and explore Okinawa, Japan. I want to go there and train in the martial arts in the form that I study here in the USA. I have been training in the martial arts for 15 years now and I have studied part of the Japanese culture relating to early childhood education. Learning about the way they interact with others and form strong bonds and relationships in the family unit is amazing and missing in today's generation.

It's an island as well. I have never been to an island and to learn about the geography and history of the culture and the people fascinate my interest to learn and gain knowledge in how other people bond and relate to other people around them.

I would like to be an "exchange student" as they call it here and spend a college semester in a Japanese's family home and learn about their culture, their views of various topics, and their relationship and support towards their child/children. I would want to find ways that they use that I could try and use in my classroom with my students.

I never went to Okinawa, but a lot of my friends did, and they said it was lovely. But, they were there either for a holiday (so a week or so) or to get some field work done.

In karate, the style of karate is originated from Okinawa, and learning the history and stories I would love to visit there. I would love to train with the martial artists there and learn to develop the "eye of the tiger" for kata forms. Plus, the culture and island is very rich with history. I would even do some farming and other enjoyments the folks there have fun doing for themselves.

Interesting! I know that Okinawa has quite a different culture to mainland Japan - partly because the original Japanese are there, and also because the US Navel base means there are many more westerners.

I lived in quite a large town, but in my travels I would often see no other non Japanese around.

It is interesting!!! I would love to go there someday. Until then I'll enjoy my own travels around the US for now, until I get enough money to travel there.

Spending a long time - not just a couple of weeks, living in the country sounds great!
I was hoping to go to Japan in 2016 but my partner doesn't like the idea of it so we are off to the USA! LOL
Thanks for answering my question
