It’s the opening night of the Bengals Circus and Lily the tiger paced her cage, snorting on her odd footing. She was nervous about her performance with her brother Alex. Her big brother and her conscience, the one to set her straight and calm.
Alex was in the next cage, laying down on his side, napping before the big show. She never understood how he could do it. Be so calm and collective. She was a nervous wreck and he was most likely pretending to be napping and listening to her pacing. It annoyed her that he never let his emotions get the better of him.
“How’d you do it? Huh?” She growled out annoyed with herself.
And without thought, she could hear, “I don’t let it get to me. With do this all the time. I trust you, Lily.” He snorted and stood up to face her.
Lily stopped and sat in front of her brother. Tilting her head, she nodded, laying down for the first time in long minutes of worry for nothing.
“You’re absolutely right, brother. I do trust you. This performance was made for us.”
He laughed, good and loud, and laid back down in his cage. She joined right in. Laughing alongside her big brother, the man who was full of wisdom. She laid down and curled up tight in a ball, like she did as a child, and fell asleep. Lily had plenty of time to rest, it wasn’t even lunch time.
