So I was checking up on my friends pages and I noticed something made by a friend, well hoping they are a friend. She wrote the writers are forgotten after 3 years being out of the fandom. Well I guess in some ways that its true, but I will say this, I never left the fandom. I have taken a step back from writing for personal reasons and I am glad to be back into writing for the Big Bang. I could use some cheerleaders but sadly in truth I will not really get that, so its all on me, I really could use a push and someone to keep me on track.

I know what you mean I can't even keep myself on track. The more stressed I become in life and at work the more I read instead of writing like I need to be doing.

I hear exactly what your saying. I have been stressed out as well in my personal life and its been one roller coaster. Well I will be your cheerleader and support your writing and your story that you are working on. Can't wait to read it!!

Eh, I'm not so sure. I suspect that whether or not a writer is forgotten/remembered by fandom is down to a series of factors including, but not limited to:

1. How prolific a writer they were to begin with
2. How broad ranging within the fandom they roamed (a dark!fic writer who wrote solely dark!fic, for example, isn't going to reach the same share of the readership as a writer who writes in multiple genres - a number of readers just don't read what they don't enjoy).
3. Whether they wrote a 'signature piece' - one of those fics that is largely remembered and discussed, oft recced and reminisced about (these are almost invariably long stories, but not exclusively)
4. How much (if any) drama they caused within the fandom (not necessarily something anyone would want to be remembered for but, hey-ho)
5. Whether the fic is still out there and available.

Personally, I never felt the need for fandom to remember me. I lurk on the edges, I'm a horrendous commenter and I'm notoriously bad at cross-posting/publicising anything I write (I used to be a little better but nowadays I post solely to my own fic journal and my own AO3 and I can't remember the last time I took part in any kind of challenge). Then again, I suspect it comes down to what you want from fandom. I want to read fic and to write fic and sometimes to squee excitably and that's it for me; I'm not looking for fame or notoriety and I don't need recognition or acknowledgement. It's a stressfree life (I don't worry about comments or feedback - if I get it, cool, if not, that's cool too) but I'll never be a BNF (do the kids still even say that these days?). Suits me, doesn't suit everybody.

No real point there, I don't think, just my own rambly thoughts on what you have up there :)

Hi Sweetie,
How is your fic coming along for you? Mine is slowly but surely getting there. Let me know if you need any help.
*hugs*
